To Improve Education

Education is crucial for economic growth and the future prosperity of our city. Jackson’s economic development is directly tied to the success of our children, who deserve the chance to achieve their full potential regardless of their location or family income. As an ‘Advocate of Education,’ I am dedicated to addressing the needs of every child from early childhood through their career, beginning with high-quality, affordable childcare and pre-kindergarten programs, fully funded public schools, and extending to post-secondary opportunities that pave the way for lifelong success.

As your mayor, Albert will:

• Increase funding and create new funding sources for supplemental education support utilizing general funds, CDBG funds, and other state and federal grant incentives.
• Create youth social and civic engagement and summer job opportunities through the Mayor’s Youth Initiative.
• Emphasize STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) after-school programs to boost school, college, or career readiness.
• Make vocational schools, community colleges, and universities more assessable.
• Invest in affordable and high-quality childcare for all families.
