To Bring Economic Development

Bringing a 21st-century economy to Jackson is essential for our city’s future prosperity. We can ensure that all residents benefit from new opportunities by fostering an environment that supports innovation and growth.

As your mayor, Albert will:

• Develop Farish Street into a top tourist attraction. Farish Street will be a must-visit spot for anyone who loves live music and great food, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, colorful neon lights, and historic buildings. Born during Reconstruction, the Farish Street District was once forged by black Mississippians searching for spaces to call their own. In its mid-twentieth century heyday, Farish Street was the largest economically independent African American community in Mississippi. Under my leadership the Farish Street District will be booming again.
• Renovate, update, and market Jackson’s tourist attractions including but not limited to Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (attract more airlines/flights), Jackson Convention Complex, Russell C. Davis Planetarium, Thalia Mara Hall, and the Jackson Zoo (move).
• Entice new corporations to Jackson, encourage current businesses to stay in Jackson, assist resident in creating new businesses, while partnering with other city, state, and federal officials in Jackson’s growth.
• Establish high-paying positions to retain our talented graduates from Mississippi’s colleges and universities, encouraging them to build their careers locally rather than relocating to other states.
• Advocate for a Mississippi that embraces and includes people of all ethnicities, races, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, abilities, languages, religions, and sexual orientations. Albert values input from every citizen in the state.
